I enjoyed growing up in my rural community. My family and pretty much the entire village was politically conservative and quite religious. However I got caught up in the Viet Nam war, was drafted out of graduate school and found myself in Viet Nam as a low level commander. My life was rudely awakened by witnessing the aftermath of massacres from the air. I began to realize the incredible lie our culture has been living since our origins in the forcible dispossession of hundreds of Indigenous nations. We have lived in a pretend mythology ever since and I have been slowly liberating myself from it. I have become a long time peace and justice advocate fiercely critiquing US domestic and foreign policy rooted in preserving class at ANY cost. So I have been an activist, speaker, author, organizer as well as handcyclist and permaculture fan.
